An evening of cultural and religious performances highlighted the official opening of the Wellness Centre Multi-purpose Facility, owned and operated by Mrs. Marilyn Hodge, on Sunday July 22nd, 2018.
A large mixed audience of seniors and younger persons, including Ministerial Assistant the Hon. Evalie Bradley and former Chief Minister Mr. Hubert Hughes and Mrs. Hughes, were in attendance.
Those rendering performances included Lennox and son, Sprocka, the Rastafarian Brethen, and Melodies of Praise as well as a number of soloists and dancers.
Those making remarks included Mrs. Sandra York-Gumbs, Mr. Clive Smith, on behalf of the Ministry of Social Development, and community representative Mr. Sutcliffe Hodge.
A brief, timely and well-articulated exhortation on the topic ‘Arise! Come let us build Anguilla’ was delivered by Pastor Denroy Gumbs.
The ribbon was cut by Master Keon Busby with the sign unveiled by Mr. Joseph Hodge, the youngest and oldest members of the family respectively. The new facility was blessed by Pastor Jerome Harrigan. Others who participated included Rev. Menes Hodge who brought the Opening Prayer and Ms. Valarie Hodge chaired the ceremony.
Mrs. Hodge has expressed her heartfelt thanks to all those persons and businesses who provided refreshments – in particular Sweet Tooth Bakery, Caines Bakery and Tastys Restaurant; and Mr. Fitzroy Briggy Tomlinson, Mr. Dion Rogers and Dominion Faith Centre for the tents. Chairs were provided by the Deputy Principal of Campus B and the Principal of the Orealia Kelly Primary School. Special thanks to Mr. Leonard Kentish, Mr. Hubert Hughes and Mr. Sinclair Mathews for the use and preparation of the adjoining land.
She has also thanked the many elderly persons and the public in general for their attendance which made the event a tremendous success.
