WISE Students Brunch Assessment

With this being the period of annual end-of-year exams at the Albena Lake Hodge Comprehensive School, the ALHCS’s referral facility, WISE, is also conducting its tests.
On Tuesday June 19th, The Anguillian was invited to witness the Culinary Arts students in action. Students of this department were being assessed for the creation and presentation of a sumptuous brunch which was served to a few invited guests by Food Technology students Valan Hyppolyte and Hubert Pemberton.
The delicious meal could well be dubbed the “WISE Brunch” for the food was not just tasty but healthy and nutritious as well. A platter of original veggie-fruits salad was served as an appetizer, followed by a delicious main course all skillfully created by the ambitious students.
According to course Instructor, Tr. Lennora Taylor-Allen, “The assessment of the students’ practical presentation followed their written test segment which is all part of their final Culinary Arts.” She invited the guests to take advantage of sampling little jars of the culinary students’ classic Anguillian jams.
Mrs. Evalie Bradley, deputizing in the absence of the Hon. Minister of Education, Mrs. Cora Richardson-Hodge, was one of the impressed guests. She commented: “I am happy to be present as a guest here and to partake of this delicious, sumptuous brunch today. Everything served here was wonderful, to the extent where some of us would like to have the recipes.
“I must compliment the teachers for doing an amazing job in molding these students. We have been created by God with varying abilities and intellects. But whatever talent God has graced us with, we have the opportunity today to be able to use it to God’s honor, for our benefit as well as to the benefit of others. I want to impress upon you, students, the importance of wisely utilizing these culinary skills that are being molded in you by your teacher.
“You have done excellently in your service of this brunch. I am sure that as you advance and move forward you would grow and develop in this fine art, knowing that the ‘sky’ is your limit.”
Words of commendation were also given to the students by Rotarian, and hotel personality, Mr. Seymour Hodge. He remarked: “Indeed, we are impressed with the service shown here today, and we have enjoyed the meal immensely. The WISE program is a project of the Rotary Club of Anguilla, and we are always pleased to assist in whatever capacity we can. I am sure that if you need any assistance, going forward, we at Rotary will do our best to help.”
Mr. Hodge said that as far as his affiliation with the Four Seasons Resort is concerned, he was willing and committed to do all that lies within him to assist the culinary division at WISE.
In closing, Coordinator of the facility, Ms. Gabrielle Klaren, gave thanks to all the guests for showing up as participants in the assessment. She also gave high praise to Tr. Lennora as well as the dedicated culinary students.
