Seven choirs and chorale groups produced one of the best Choir Fest performances, on Thursday evening, May 24, in the run-up to the Anguilla Day celebration.
Their singing was not only melodious, uplifting and akin in words reflective of the spirit of the 1967 Anguilla Revolution, now in its 51st anniversary, but showed a well-harnessed talent that really makes the island proud. The overall award-winning theme of the Anguilla Day events is: Still Strong, Proud and Free, Anguilla at 51, charting our Destiny.
The participating performers, who were highly commended, were, in order of appearance: The Anguilla Jubilee Choir, an interdenominational group, directed by Lois Hazell, with the selection Only Under God.
The Ebenezer Methodist Church Youth Choir, directed by Mr. Hulia Carty (Ponto): My Tomorrow Must Be Greater Than Today.
The Hilltop Baptist Church: Never Get Weary Yet – Anguilla Oh.
The Seventh-day Adventist Men’s Ensemble: A Few Good Men.
The Central Baptist Church Choir: I will Sing Halleluyah.
The SDA Royal Priesthood Choir: There’s A Peace (originally sung by Choir Director, Vance Richardson).
Church of God (Holiness) Sekinah Chorale: Steel Away.
The opening prayer was delivered by the Resident District SDA Minister, Pastor Trent Berg. Greetings were brought by the Minister of Home Affairs, Mrs. Cora Richardson-Hodge, under whose Ministry the Anguilla Day celebrations are held.
The able chairman was Pastor Jerome Harrigan of the Faith Dominion Centre.
