On behalf of the President and members of The Anguilla Retired Persons Association (ARPA), the Rev Egbert D Richardson, I extend our deepest condolences on the death of our beloved brother, the late Hays Auguste Hanson. Particularly to his companion Marva, his children, the extended family and members of the St Martin Recreational Foundation for Senior Citizens and the entire island of St Martin.
Our late brother and his companion were instrumental in assisting our Association in moving forward since 2015.
The exchange visits by the Department of Social Development and the Senior Citizens Home were strengthened and bonded well with the Anguilla Retired Persons.
As partners in the social protection of older persons, let us continue to give our spiritual and moral support to his family and our dedicated members in St Martin and Anguilla in carrying on the legacy.
Our brother died in St Martin on 6 May 2018 and was laid to rest on 12 May in Marigot. The coffin was draped in a grey, patch work blanket with family pictures depicted on it, which was made by his daughter. That blanket survived the hurricane damage done to his property.
In memoriam the homily made reference to the Scripture 1Timothy 6:17 regarding the possession of worldly riches.
He was a man with many skills which included making coffins. Among other things, he taught his children how to work hard for survival.
His wife preceded him in death.
His family would like him to be remembered as a man who would say “I am fine at 39, doing what I like to do best helping anyone in need”.
May his soul rest in perpetual peace.
ARPA was represented by its Secretary, Sister Ursil Webster Brooks
