As part of recovery efforts post Hurricane Irma, Anguilla Red Cross implemented a cash programme, that helped 1776 people in Anguilla until now (530 families), including 214 children up to 5 years old, 148 elderly and 260 people with disabilities.
To maintain knowledge and be able to implement programme in future emergencies, Anguilla Red Cross conducted a training on the Fundamentals of Cash Transfer Programming in Emergencies on the 28th April 2018. The course was attended by 11 participants, which included staff and volunteers from Anguilla Red Cross, and the Liaison Officer for Red Cross from the Department of Disaster Management, Mr Alwyn J. Richardson.
The training which was conducted was a CaLP recognised training. CaLP stands for Cash Learning Partnership, which is a global partnership of humanitarian actors (over 150 organisations and more than 5,000 individuals), that have come together to strengthen the understanding and use of cash in emergencies. Anguilla Red Cross plans to offer a more advanced cash training to a small number of its staff/volunteers in the next two years.
