Back in September when Hurricane Irma hit Anguilla, a group of 5 young ladies who grew up on the island but were living abroad at the time, came together and started a GoFundMe account. Within months, they were able to raise close to 19 thousand US dollars from people all over the world.
Teresa Brooks, Bernice Brooks, Aline Geyer, Olivia Geyer and Dee-Ann Rogers donated $10,400 to the local hospital earlier this year to help with the re-construction of the building and replacement of the damaged medical equipment. Additionally, $2500 was donated to the high school and each of the six public primary school received $1000 to help with school supplies.
