The Easter Monday holiday in Anguilla passed quietly with the two major events having been a social gathering involving St. Mary’s Anglican Church and Ebenezer Methodist Church on the grounds of the Scouts and Guides Ruthwill Auditorium, and a boat race from Sandy Ground to Sandy Hill and back, held by the Anguilla Boat Race Committee.
The well-attended events on the grounds of the Scouts and Guides Ruthwill Auditorium included a number of culinary dishes, a hat parade by a group of young children who replaced many of the adults who engaged in the colourful event over the years; and a friendly cricket match in which the players were also mainly young children. Unlike last year, the Methodist Church was unable to put a team together and so lost by default to the overwhelming young team from the Anglican Church.

Meanwhile, at Sandy Ground, a smaller crowd witnessed the Easter Monday boat race which started earlier than usual, for the journey to Sandy Hill, as a result of light wind. Only five boats participated in the race, much less than in previous years due to the damage done to many of the boats by Hurricane Irma.

It was claimed that Sonic placed first and Satellite second, but this remained in dispute. In third position was Speed & Comfort. The other participating racing boats were Blue Bird and Real Deal.
