Ahead of the 2018 Commonwealth Meeting of Heads of Government in London, Anguilla along with twenty other Commonwealth members is reminding citizens of where to anonymously and confidentially report online child sexual abuse imagery
The reporting website, known as a Reporting Portal, supports the country’s determination to tackle child sexual abuse imagery online. Anguilla has a customised IWF Reporting Portal, which is simple web-based form. This is a safe and anonymous way to send reports directly to expert analysts who then assess the reports and have the content removed. Anyone can fill in a Report form via the weblink https://report.iwf.org.uk/axa
Anguilla and other Commonwealth members will be highlighted for their Reporting Portal at the forthcoming 2018 Commonwealth Meeting of Heads of Government in London. The meeting will look at ways of building on the strengths of the Commonwealth, to ensure this unique organisation is responsive to global challenges and delivers a more prosperous, secure, sustainable and fair future for all its citizens, particularly young people. The Reporting Portals of the IWF are also driven by these goals, offering all citizens around the world a secure place to report online child sexual abuse imagery online, making the internet a safer place for everyone using it.
Susie Hargreaves OBE, IWF CEO, said: “Our aim is to prevent the victims of child sexual abuse from being revictimised the world over, as offenders view and share the disturbing images of their abuse over and over again. It takes a global effort to make this happen, and we’re very grateful to Anguilla for implementing the Reporting Portal to help protect children.”
Jenny Thornton, IWF International Development Manager, said: “There is a global disparity in the availability of mechanisms for tackling child sexual abuse imagery online. To address this unevenness, in a world where child sexual abuse imagery online is a crime that disregards international borders, we are dedicated to equipping the least developed countries with a Reporting Portal. Anguilla’s motto is Unity, Strength and Endurance. It is therefore fitting that by having a Portal, Anguilla is proactively committed to tackling this horrific cybercrime, which is in true spirit of the national motto.”
Dr. Bonnie Richardson-Lake, Anguilla’s Permanent Secretary, Social Development, said: “This collaboration with the Internet Watch Foundation is an important component of the Ministry’s National Child Safeguarding Project. We look forward to continued partnership as we seek to ensure that children in Anguilla live free from all forms of abuse.”
