On 27th February, St. Mary’s Pre-School held its annual in-house sports day. This year’s competition was held at Coronation Park, The Valley, and was one with a difference where competing students of various classes were divided into five groups (houses), namely Orange, Blue, Yellow, Green and Red House.
The event, which commenced with a march-pass showcasing the various uniforms and banners of the houses, was very colorful and competitive, and was supported by a large appreciative crowd who were well entertained. At the end of the evening, the point standings saw the winners Orange House with 1,927 points, Green House; 1,810 points, Yellow House; 1831 points, Blue House; 1,742 points and Red House; 1,715 points.
As part of early child hood education, St. Mary’s Pre-School believes that at an early age, competitive sports plays an important role in the promotion and instilling of discipline and good sportsmanship. This competition also gives each student an opportunity to exercise their budding athletic skills while having fun.
The management and teachers of the school take this opportunity to thank the many parents and friends of the school for their kind assistance, but most of all, a big thanks and congratulations is extended to the hardworking energetic students for making this year’s competition a most successful and enjoyable one.The school also wishes to recognize, Ash Hodge, Frankie Claxton, Talita Bazil, Jemara Phillip, Dwayne Richardson, Ardin Lake, Vina Telamacque, Amythist Saunders, Alma Richardson, Lendon Williams, Shanel Bachelor, Julienne Romney and Patricia Baird for their contribution.
St. Mary’s preschool promises that next year’s competition will be even bigger and better, and is looking forward to the continued support of the general public.
