Acting Commissioner of Police of The Royal Anguilla Police Force Mr. Elliott Forbes has described the recently held Police Week 2018 as a success.
The Acting Commissioner said, “Even though the Royal Anguilla Police Force trimmed down its activities and is still recovering from the effects of hurricanes Irma and Maria, the organization was still able to put on a Police Week that in my opinion was a successful one.”
The week which began with a church service on Sunday 28th January, 2018 and concluding on Saturday 3rd February, 2018 had several of its usual activities removed from the program this year because of circumstances beyond the control of the organizing committee.
“This year there was no Spelling Bee, Gospel Concert, Kiddies Jamboree, Dinner and Dance or Grand Raffle”, said Acting Commissioner. “However activities such as the Domino Competition, the Caribbean Food Fest, the Senior Citizens Luncheon, Bingo and the visit by our friends from St. Maarten the VKS ensured that we all had an enjoyable time.”
The observance of Police Week continues to provide a vehicle for members of the public to interact with the police on a more social level.
During the week the RAPF also took the opportunity to engage in community programs with the presentation of Food Baskets totaling some EC $1,000.00 to five (5) individuals in the community who were identified by the Anguilla Red Cross. A fruit basket was also presented to former Commissioner of Police Mr. Elliott Richardson.
The Acting Commissioner of Police would like to thank all those who contributed to making the week a success despite the many challenges that arose in the aftermath of Hurricanes Irma and Maria. Thanks for your generosity and continued support.
