As the Royal Anguilla Police Force continues its plans for Carnival 2017 in association with the Carnival Committee as well as other stalk holders, Commissioner of Police, Mr. Paul Morrison wishes to assure the Anguillian community that their safety is paramount.
“While Carnival 2017 maybe a hectic time for the RAPF, we can assure you that your safety is paramount to us,” said Commissioner Morrison. The RAPF is putting every measure in place to ensure that every Anguillian and visitor alike who wishes to enjoy Carnival 2017 will be able to do just that.”
“For us to achieve a safe and enjoyable carnival we are calling on all persons to be very vigilant during the carnival season and ensure that they put their safety first,” Commissioner of Police Morrison continued.
Carnival 2017 under the theme, “Boat Racing, Pageantry and Culture Reign Supreme for Anguilla Summer Festival 2017”, is scheduled to start on Wednesday 2nd August 2017 concluding on Sunday 13th August, 2017. There will be a heightened police presence at all carnival activities in light of the recent increase in robberies and gun related activities.
Business owners those persons who will be operating booths are asked to make appropriate arrangements to move their daily cash intake from the various functions to the banks to reduce the risk of becoming victims.
Additionally during the various activities the general public especially the motoring public are asked to drive with extreme caution at all times paying attention and the responding to any roads signs that maybe erected or signal given by any police officers who may be on duty. Motorist are also reminded that the road ways in and out of Sandy Ground on August Monday and the road into Meads Bay from Serena end on August Thursday will be a one way road. Additionally during the night times the road from the St. Mary’s Church junction to the Ashley Brooks Round About will also be a one way road. The road plan will be posted in a later release so as to inform the public.
