A total of 27 children between the ages of 5 to 12, participated in this year’s Swim Summer Camp facilitated by the Anguilla Red Cross. The two-week camp started on Monday 10th July and ended on Thursday 20th July 2017.
The children underwent a total of 8 hours of training over the course of the camp. They were trained in water safety around/in the water and in swimming techniques both in a pool and in the sea. These exercises equipped them with skills on how to respond in cases of an emergency.
The Anguilla Red Cross currently has 10 water safety instructors and 4 trainers on staff. Mr. Frank Cannon, Anguilla Red Cross Volunteer Trainer, said: “Our goal is to get as many people out there as possible, and to offer as many different opportunities for children and adults to learn how to swim.”
