It was the largest, most colourful and patriotic parade, ever seen on the island when hundreds of schoolchildren from throughout Anguilla joined in a mass parade in celebration of the 50th Anniversary of the Anguilla Revolution.
The event was on Friday morning, May 26. From the Orealia Kelly School at Stoney Ground, it took in the Upper Valley area, the grounds of the Clayton Lloyd International Airport, the Airport Road and Albert Lake’s Drive.
Minister of Education, Mr. Evans McNiel Rogers, issued the following statement: “I wish to congratulate the Education Department, teachers, schoolchildren and parents, for a wonderful display of national pride on the eve of our 50th Anniversary of the Anguilla Revolution. The parade was well-organised, the themes and costumes were vibrant and our national colours were proudly displayed. It was a job well done by all.”
The parade numbers swelled considerably with the participation of parents and other members of the public. Below are some of the scenes.
