The Annual General Meeting of the Soroptimist Club was held on Tuesday April 25 and a new president and executive were installed. Anita Brooks has taken over the presidency from Oluwakemi Linda Banks who held the position for the past two years.
Secretary Yolande Richardson gave a detailed report on events during the past year. She said that it was a challenging year for the Club but thanked the members for their steady support. She said that under President Linda the Day Care Centre had been upgraded with new playground equipment, interior and exterior painting, and new equipment. She reported on the Christmas Fair, the annual Anniversary Dinner, the workshop on endometriosis, the day of reflection, and the Scholarship Fund.
Outgoing President Linda thanked everyone for their unwavering support during her term of office. She named the founding members of the Club, several of whom are still members, who gave it such a good start. She encouraged members to keep reaching out and move forward.
The new President Anita was given the chain of office, by Patron Rosena Brooks and Past President Oluwakemi, and welcomed as President. The new President encouraged members to work together and to keep the pledge. She promised to do whatever she can for the Club and said that together members will do their best. She thanked outgoing President Linda for all that she had done for the Club.
The new Executive includes President Anita Brooks, Immediate Past President Linda Banks, Secretary Angelina Carty, Treasurer Blondell Rodgiers, President elect Ursil Brooks, Vice President Yolande Richardson, Programme Action Lana Hoyoung, Councillor Blondell Rodgiers, Membership Director Pamela Connor, committee members Lana Hoyoung, Stella Horsford, Olive Hodge and Georgia Matthews.
