Former Miss Anguilla, Calypso Monarch and Road March Winner, Fedalia “Shea Shea” Richardson, is plunging into her solo career. Earlier this year the 26-year-old declared herself a solo artist after twelve years on the local band scene. Though she is grateful for every experience, Shea Shea said that it was time for her to spread her wings as an artist and explore ideas she has had for years. Although she is known primarily as a soca artist, Shea Shea has assembled her own 3-piece band and now dabbles in several genres during her performances.

While building her brand locally, Shea Shea still wanted to ensure her success as a soca artist globally. In February of this year, fellow Anguillian chanteuse Deanna Mussington introduced her to Ivan Berry, (Deanna’s Manager) and renowned Canadian music executive. Shea Shea expressed her plans and aspirations to Berry who was encouraged by her work ethics and determination. Berry decided to assist. He recruited the Barbados based super producers De Red Boys to produce a track. De Red Boys hit list includes Destra’s “Lucy” and Alison Hinds’ “Roll it.” In addition to the De Red Boys, Berry also contacted another hit maker, St Vincent artist/ songwriter Problem Child. Problem Child’s chart toppers include Patrice Robert’s “A little wine” and “Old and Grey”.
Both De Red Boys and Problem Child were thoroughly impressed by Shea Shea’s energy and talent. Within weeks after their initial phone conversations – accompanied by top filmmaker Chad Kent – Shea Shea flew to Barbados to record her first single. Documenting the trip, she said, was especially important to her not only for marketing purposes, but to thank the fans that have supported her over the years. If numbers are a true representation of support, Shea Shea has nothing to fear. Chad’s mini documentary about her trip has racked up almost 20 thousand views less than a week after its release.

Shea Shea’s first single will be released on May 19th at Sky Lounge Night Club in Water Swamp. She credits much of her journey to her corporate partners who believed in her as an artist and as a brand from day one. Her corporate partners include Calypso Charters and the Anguilla Tourist Board. Shea Shea is also brand ambassador for FLOW and Tropical Distributors who went above and beyond in assisting her on this project. The world awaits the new journey of Shea Shea. The solo artist!
