On 7th April, 2017 the Department of Youth and Culture, on behalf of the Government of Anguilla, provided financial support to British Dependency to offset the cost of their attendance of MINEC in San Andrés, Colombia. The Insular Market of Cultural Expressions – MINEC (El Mercado Insular de Expresiones Culturales-MINEC) – held its fourth edition from the 16th to 19th of April. This market seeks to strengthen expressions of musical tunes that are woven around Caribbean rhythms.
The Hon. Minister of Youth Affairs, Mr. Evans McNeil Rogers, Permanent Secretary of Youth Affairs, Dr. Bonnie Richardson-Lake, and the Director and staff of the Department of Youth and Culture expressed their best wishes for a safe and successful event. The Department is committed to providing support to organisations and individuals on Anguilla that are engaged in initiatives to further develop and empower themselves.
British Dependency is a registered and accredited organisation with the Department of Youth and Culture. It is a well-travelled music group that has been able to promote Anguilla globally.
Members of the various cultural organisations on Anguilla, who have not yet been registered or accredited by the Department, are encouraged to contact the Senior Programme Officer – Culture Development – Ms. Shellya Rogers at shellya.rogers@gov.ai or by telephone (264) 498 3792/497 0969. The registration and accreditation process is used to determine an organisation’s eligibility to receive funding from the Department of Youth and Culture.
