Mr. Russel Reid, Director of Human Resources at Malliouhana-Auberge Resort, Meads Bay, Anguilla, is personally delighted to be among 100 of the most influential Global HR Professionals selected for the 2017 Excellence Awards. The granting of the awards is in celebration of the 25th Silver Jubilee Year of the World Human Resources Development (HRD) Congress.

The information, released on Tuesday this week, by Mr. Reid, stated that the citations for the awards to him and other highly-recognised persons around the world, were presented to them during the organisation’s Silver Anniversary celebration from February 15-17. That event was held two months ago during the period February 15-17 in Mumbai, India.

In a letter in September 2016, the organisation’s Project Director, Dr. R. L. Bhatia, informed Mr. Reid that the Jury and Council of Board members had undertaken to confer the citation for one of the 100 Most Influential Global Professionals on him in the New Year, 2017. The Selection Committee comprised senior leaders, researchers, academicians and other listed prominent persons.

The letter stated that the citation awards were to be made at the organisation’s Executive Level Retreat “in which the participants will review evolving trends in Human Resources Management that could change their paradigm on leading people at work,” among other matters.

Mr. Reid has had a career in Anguilla spanning over two decades. His main experience was drawn during his work in the public service firstly as an uncertificated Teacher in the Primary Schools, them as Director of Library Services, Labour Commissioner followed by his current private sector position as Director, Human Resources at Malliouhana-Auberge Resort. He also holds the appointment as Chairman of the Anguilla Social Security Board.

Reid holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Library and Information Science from the University of the West Indies, and a Masters degree in Information Technology Management and Organisational Change from Lancaster University in the United Kingdom.

Commenting on the honour bestowed on him, Mr. Reid said in part: “I am humbled and honoured to receive such a prestigious award. Achievements like these help to promote Anguilla positively, and provide the opportunity for the island to be more known in the wider global arena. The support of my loving spouse, children, brothers, sisters, extended family and close friends, has been instrumental in assisting me with my personal and professional development over the years. I know that my mother is looking down at me and is very proud of my achievements as she was my biggest fan and most constructive critic.”

The grateful Mr. Reid further said: “Additionally, I would like to publicly thank the people and past Governments of Anguilla for their unending support and for affording me the opportunities to attend universities in Jamaica and the United Kingdom. Much appreciation is also extended to Auberge Resorts and LinkedIn, the social media site for professionals, for giving me access to platforms to share my HR expertise and knowledge with the global community. Last, but by no means least, this award is only possible through the good grace and mercies of God who is first in my life.”
