ANGUILLA WELCOMES GOVERNOR GENERAL’S CUP CARIBBEAN AIR RALLY

On Wednesday 5th April, the pilots and crews of twenty-two single, twin and turbine aircrafts from the Governor General’s Cup Caribbean Air Rally were welcomed at the Clayton J. Lloyd International Airport.

The group vi sited the island in 2012, and 2013 and once again in its 2017 itinerary. The purpose of the Air Rally is to promote the beauty, safety and the advantages of flying in the Caribbean, and to highlight the region as an ideal destination for general aviation.

The Governor General’s Cup Caribbean Air Rally is broadcast on television in cities around the world including the USA and Canada. This year, the Rally is covered by the most popular aviation show: ‘The Aviators TV’, with 60 million viewers globally.

The trip to Anguilla was coordinated by the Anguilla Tourist Board and Lloyds’ Aviation Services, and facilitated by the Government of Anguilla, and its participants were officially welcomed by the Hon. Cardigan Connor, Hon. Curtis Richardson and Chief Minister, Mr. Victor Banks. President of the Governor General’s Cup Caribbean Air Rally, Catherine Tobenas, expressed thanks to Anguilla for recognizing the importance of aviation and for their friendly hospitality.

The group from cities around the world, including Colorado, Wisconsin, Michigan, Texas, California, Philadelphia, South Carolina, British Colombia, Alberta, Ontario, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Switzerland, France and Slovakia, was treated to a number of activities including water sports, sightseeing and cycling for the two-night layover.
The group left Anguilla on Friday, April 7th, for Bequia, The Grenadines.
