The Anguilla Taekwondo Club wishes to congratulate three of its members who have successfully achieved the level of black belt, including sister and brother, Twicidia Carty, 14, and Tavern Carty, 11, and Tarik Smith, also 11. The exam was held earlier this month at the Road Primary School Auditorium on December 3, 2016, when Grand Master Chin, “Sir” Emmanuel Laud, the club president, and the senior black belts collaborated yet again to assess and bestow the recognition of achievement for members at all levels in the club.
These three newest “black belts” took part in the semi-annual exam to test all of the taekwondo achievement levels, from white to yellow belts, yellow to green, all the way to the “striped” brown earning this coveted, highest belt for this important discipline. The exams take place every May and December, and they are followed by a beach party to celebrate the achievements throughout the club.
“Beyond training our bodies and minds, our emphasis is on the mutual respect and friendship among our members. We also ensure that any who are also students maintain their schoolwork and reflect the club’s values at home and during classes in order to advance to the next level,” said Mr. Laud. “We are very proud of these new black belts, and all our members congratulate them on this exciting achievement.”
