Under Section 29 of the Rules of the House of Assembly regarding Personal Statements, on Tuesday, Leader of the Opposition Palmovan Webster called on Government to grant Mr. Ronald Webster the highest national award.
“The way we can demonstrate that he is really deserving of the highest possible honour is if we have to pass a National Heroes Law. I am calling on this Government now to put at rest always what that legacy is. Because this is the inheritance of the Anguilla people and we shouldn’t have other names necessarily,” she said.
“Let us put in place a law now. I can draft it but let’s have him be first. He is the foremost and we should not minimize or marginalize his contribution. I call on Parliament which spoke in laudatory terms to let us agree to do what is necessary… We can come to the House and I’m willing to work day and night so that can be achieved.”
