Director of the Department of Youth and Culture, Mr. Bren Romney, praised Centre Managers for the amazing work done throughout 2016 and encouraged them to continue to find creative and proactive ways to respond to the needs of the communities they serve.
Items on the agenda, included a review of training completed in 2016 with Centre Managers in the areas of Crowdfunding, Social Media Marketing, Programme Structure and Behaviour Management. The meeting examined the progress that has been made to date as Centre Managers implement the initiatives that the training/courses were designed to support.

Centre Managers also received proposals from community partners for two potential new programmes for 2017 and an initial proposal for the implementation of an adult literacy, numeracy and ICT programme that is being spearheaded by the Department of Youth and Culture, Anguilla Community College, TVET Council and Partners Advocating for Violence Eradication (PAVE).

A feature at the 4th Planning Meeting was the presentation of 5 Nikon cameras to the Youth and Community Development Centres on Anguilla. The cameras were sponsored by the Department of Youth and Culture (Government of Anguilla). Anguilla Electronics sponsored data chips for the cameras.

The cameras were provided as part of a wider initiative to encourage the Centres to promote their services through social media outlets and also to document their activities and programmes.

Earlier in the year, the Centre Managers received training at the Anguilla Community College on Social Media Marketing. The Centres which received cameras and data chips were; Blowing Point Youth Development Centre, HOPE Community Centre, West End Community Development Centre, Eleos Centre, Island Harbour Care Centre and Pond Ground Care Centre.

Members of the various communities are encouraged to visit the Centre within their communities to receive further information on the programmes being offered. For further information please contact Senior Programme Officer – Youth Affairs Division, Ms. Joleyne Robin at Joleyne.robin@gov.ai or by telephone (264) 498 3792.
