At the Third Annual National Youth Awards Ceremony, the Youth Division of the Department of Youth and Culture, led by the Senior Programme Officer, Ms. Joleyne Robin, presented a token of appreciation to the Permanent Secretary, Mrs. Chanelle Petty Barrett.
In making the presentation, Ms. Robin said it was in recognition of the Permanent Secretary’s commitment and dedication over the past eight years. She noted that, as of January 2017, Mrs. Petty Barrett will commence a new appointment at the Ministry of Home Affairs.
Mrs. Petty Barrett was presented with a copy of the “Road to Success” poster (in stone) which was created from an address she delivered at a graduation ceremony. At that time, Mr. Stanley Reid, who was serving as Deputy Governor, became intrigued by that address and wanted to further develop the idea it presented in the form of a poster.
The poster was developed with the aim of highlighting the journey on the road to success and the countless distractions that are faced by young people if they choose to deter from it. A copy of the developed poster will be placed in each primary school so that teachers and students can engage in positive discussions during class periods. Personal copies will be given to each student so that parents can do the same.
The Permanent was surprised and grateful for the generous token of appreciation. The poster was designed by 5 Star Corps and the printing was done by Alloyd’s Enterprise.
