The Orealia Kelly Primary School has joined other schools in Anguilla in setting up a Student Council to assist in the life and functioning of the school in various organised ways.
The Council was formed on Tuesday this week, November 15, following an election of executive members the previous week.
Those elected students are: Maliha Walters, President; Kishana Edwards, Vice President; McKayla Rogers, Public Relations Officer; Sage Alfred, Secretary; and Amelia Olivacee, Treasurer.
This is now the second group of students having a set of responsibilities at the school. The first group, which has been functioning for some time now, is called “Kids on Patrol”, and wears special jerseys as a mark of identification. Its members look after the interest of the school, the safety, wellbeing, and discipline of the student body and work in collaboration with a team of Child Friendly Teachers.

The teachers working with “Kids on Patrol are empowered to handle various issues affecting the school without necessarily involving the principal. So far, this group has been functioning very well and the expectation is that the newly-established Student Council will likewise perform at a similar level.
