On Thursday, November 3, the Anguilla Hotel and Tourism Association (AHTA) was pleased to welcome members to the first official book signing by Melinda Goddard, new author of “One Way Ticket: From American to Anguilla”. Many distinguished guests braved the weather, and Mrs. Janine Edwards, AHTA Vice President, welcomed all to the occasion and introduced Ms. Goddard, who is also an allied member of the AHTA.
Ms. Goddard said she published the book “to answer so many who had asked what it was like to leave America for Anguilla, forever.” She explained that she was still hopeful to achieve Anguilla 44, or at least 44 weeks of “Christmas occupancy and tourism”. She hopes the book encourages people to come to the island and to share her escape to paradise, even for a brief vacation. After her overview, Ms. Goddard also read a scene from the book and then signed books, as refreshments were served thereafter.
To purchase a copy of this new book, signed copies are now available at the AHTA office – as well as CuisinArt Spa and The Reef boutiques, Devonish Gallery, Tropical Sunset, and SeaSpray Smoothie’s and Gifts on the Sandy Ground Roundabout.
“The gala tickets will be ready soon,” said AHTA Executive Director, Gilda Gumbs Samuel. “It will be especially convenient to pick up a book when buying the tickets for this year’s gala! A perfect holiday gift.”
The public is also reminded that the AHTA will be hosting the 2016 AHTA Tourism Gala and Awards event – and to save the date for Friday, December 2. Ticket availability will be announced shortly.
