On Thursday November 10, 2016, the Anguilla Electricity Company, LTD held its Thirteenth-Annual General Meeting of Shareholders (AGM). At that meeting the shareholders elected three new members to serve as directors. They are Mr. Kent Webster, Mr. Claude Smith and Mr. Wilfred Richardson.
The newly constituted Board met on the 14th November, 2016 for the purpose of electing the Chairman and Vice Chairman of the Board in accordance with the By-laws of the company. The members of the Board elected Mr. Gareth Hodge Chairman and Mr. Kent Webster Vice Chairman until the next Annual General Meeting.
Mr. Hodge takes over the reins from former Chairman Mr. Harold Ruan. Mr. Kent Webster was elected as Vice Chairman, a post formerly held by retiring Director, Mr. James Richardson.
Mr. Hodge thanked the Board of Directors for their confidence in him and pledged to do his best to ensure the growth and sustainability of the Company. He said he hopes “to lead the company with the support of the other Directors and Management through these challenging times and in particular investment in renewable energy and its integration to our grid.’
The new Chairman continued, noting that “the Board hopes to motivate staff to reach their maximum potential and to ensure that the workpla ce is a safe, rewarding and a healthy environment.” He encouraged staff to continue to be proud to work for ANGLEC, and to continue delivering the best service to all stakeholders.
He further thanked the three outgoing Directors, Mr. James Richardson, Mr. Desmond Richardson and Mr. Junior Artnell Richardson for their many years of service.
The remaining members of the Board comprise Ms. Lynette Sasso, Ms. Dawnette Gumbs, Ms. Shinnette Connor, Mr. Erville Hughes and the immediate past Chairman, Mr. Harold Ruan.
