The Certificate Award Ceremony for the Anguilla Community College (ACC), under the theme ‘Building a Culture of Success in Education’, was held on Wednesday 26th October, 2016 in the Main Room at the Anguilla Community College.
The Ceremony was the highlight of College Week which was held from October 23rd to 29th October, 2016. Awardees for the evening’s celebration were those who were successful in their Caribbean Secondary Examinations Certificate (CSEC) and the London Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) Examinations during the 2015/2016 academic year. The students were given certificates of completion and awards of excellence from the Anguilla Community College as well as Anguilla Community College bags filled with ACC memorabilia.
The proceedings were ably chaired by ACC Board member, Mrs. Amelia Vanterpool Kubisch. Opening remarks and welcome were done by Dr. Leroy Hill, Dean of Studies. Brief remarks were given by Professor Delroy Louden, President of ACC. A beautiful song was rendered by ACC Business student, Ms. Levanda Delaney. The Keynote Speaker for the evening was ACC Board member Mr. Vanburn Brookes. Mr. Brookes advised the students that they should ‘never stop running’ through his motivational address. He shared some wisdom on the importance of the students maintaining what makes them Anguillian or Caribbean – remaining humble and giving back as true indicators of success.
The certificates were distributed by Professor Delroy Louden accompanied by staff members Mrs. Michal Romney, Senior Lecturer, and Mrs. Shellecia Brooks-Johnson, Assistant Registrar. The students cheered loudly for each other as they received certificates. Lecturers for the programmes were also recognized and applauded at the Ceremony. The Vote of Thanks was given by Mrs. Charmaine Rey-Richardson, Evening Coordinator at the ACC.
The room was transformed through the services of Royal Party Rentals for this auspicious occasion. Light refreshments were provided for the students and guests after the Ceremony. The students expressed appreciation to staff and management for recognizing their achievements at the Ceremony.
