Chef Shawne Bryan

Anguillian Chef Shawne Bryan was one of the participants in the finals of the US Holiday Baking Championship that premiered on Sunday November 6 at 10.00pm (local time) on the Food Network.

He is among nine persons from throughout the USA taking part in the weekly prestigious baking competition for a chance to win 50,000 US dollars and the title of Holiday Baking Champion.

Shawne who was born in 1986 has been living and working in Miami for approximately five years after completing his studies in the US.

He first did an Associate degree in Culinary Arts at Cobleskill New York. He then completed his Bachelor of Science at Johnson and Wales University in Miami and in Rhode Island, New Providence.

Shawne credits his love for the kitchen from his maternal grandmother, and stepfather Victor Gumbs – a well known baker and chef in Anguilla. According to him, his main reason for participating in the competition is to motivate young Anguillians who may have an interest in entering the culinary field.

The Caribbean Journal has named Shawne as one of 25 most interesting Persons in the Caribbean in 2014.
