UWI Open Campus Anguilla Students to Participate in 2016 Graduation Ceremony in St. Kitts

Nine (9) students from the UWI Open Campus Anguilla are listed amongst the six hundred and ninety-eight (698) Graduands to be celebrated at the University of the West Indies (UWI) Open Campus’ Presentation of Graduates Ceremony on Saturday, 8th October 2016. Chancellor, Sir George A. O. Alleyne will preside over the ceremony slated for 10:00 a.m. at the St. Kitts Marriott Resort. A large number of Heads of State, Government and University officials, as well as family and friends are expected to be in attendance to witness the students from around the region receive their formal academic qualifications in the University’s Certificate and Diploma, as well as Associate, Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programmes.
Leslie Gumbs, Jocelyne Mills, Carla Richards, Lenisha Richardson, Mavis Rogers, Roslyn Forde, Melesa Anderson, Monique Rollings and Arlene Bowne-Richardson will officially graduate from the Management Studies, Youth Development Work, Accounting, Early Childhood Development and Family Studies, Literacy Instruction, and Human Resource Management programmes. Jocelyne Mills (BSc. Youth Development Work) and Mavis Rogers and Roslyn Forde (Education) will graduate with First Class Honours, while Monique Rollings will receive a Distinction in the Master of Education in Literacy Instruction.

The members of the local Class of 2016 were congratulated and toasted by the Staff and Guild of Students of the UWI Open Campus Anguilla in a special pre-graduation ceremony send-off on Saturday, 1st October.

Seven (7) of the Graduands from the Anguilla Site will be travelling to St. Kitts with friends and family members for the formal Graduation exercise. Also in attendance in support of the Graduands will be 2016/2017 Member of the Open Campus Council, Mr. Stanley Reid and Manager for the UWI British Overseas Territories, Dr. Phyllis Fleming-Banks.

The official ceremony will begin at precisely 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, 8th October and will be preceded by the Graduands, Academic and Chancellor’s processions from 9:35 a.m.. The general public is invited to share in the grand occasion via live online streaming on the Open Campus’s website at www.open.uwi.edu.

After the official Presentation Ceremony, the new graduates and their guests will celebrate their academic achievements at an official reception hosted by the Government and People of St. Kitts and Nevis.
