The 10th Annual Youth Week in Anguilla, organised by the Department of Youth and Culture, commenced with a Parade and Worship Fest on Saturday, September 24.
The event involved the participation of the Scouts, Cub Scouts, Guides, Boys and Girls Brigade and Pathfinders. They paraded from the grounds of the Hope Youth Centre at Sandy Hill to the nearby Mount Fortune Seventh-day Adventist Church where the Worship Fest was held.
The sermon was delivered by Pastor Trent Berg, a former school administrator in St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands, now the Resident Seventh-day Adventist Minister in Anguilla. As part of his ministry he conducts regular counselling sessions for students in Anguilla. His sermon focused on the importance of faith.
The Worship Fest was moderated by Ms. Glenneva Hodge, the CARICOM Youth Ambassador for Anguilla.
Brief introductory remarks were delivered by Ms. Marisa Harding-Hodge, Youth Ambassador, and Chair Lady of the Youth Week.
The Minister of Social Development, Mr. Evans McNiel Rogers, was represented at the event by the Minister of Home Affairs, Mrs. Cora Richardson-Hodge.
She told The Anguillian: “The National Youth Worship Fest was a very exciting activity. I think the young people did an excellent job. We have various groups of young people here and I think the march is a good start for National Youth Week.”
The Vote of Thanks was delivered by Ms. Arielle Gaskin, the current Scotiabank-sponsored Talented Teen winner 2016-2017.
