Three months after its official opening on January 28 this year, Zemi Beach House, Resort & Spa, Anguilla’s newest luxury hotel at Shoal Bay East, has awarded a number of employees for outstanding performance – its first such event.
The winners for April, May and June, were: Wilson Delinois of Food & Beverage; Andrew Ortiz and Vanessa Fleming, Housekeeping; Andrew Barrett and Texla Bradshaw, Front Office; and Evan Hodge-Reid, Purchasing. They were awarded an Associate of the Month Certificate and a monetary gift.
The nominees for each of the three months were: Kishma Sasso, Reservations; Sabrina Trotman-Munroe, Spa; Shane Burton, Lavie Lake, Elisha Connor and Janice Joseph, Food & Beverage; Silvernie Gumbs and Etalia Connor, Guest Services; Churaman Onkar and Edward Castillo, Engineering; Moises Retde, Landscaping; Lisa Joseph, Beach Concierge; Watson Petty, Front Office; Bibi Akhima Gomes, Seamstress; Kimone Polson and Rosemary Gumbs, Housekeeping; and Rodney Gumbs, Steward.
Mrs. Avonelle Caragliano, Director of Human Resources, welcomed the employees at Zemi’s Associate of the Month Ceremony at the property’s elegant Stone Restaurant on September 2. “This is our first Associate of the Month Award Ceremony,” she told the employees. “It is a good feeling when we can recognise our associates for the outstanding job all of you are doing. It is just an opportunity to thank you for your dedication, loyalty, commitment, and hard work at Zemi Beach – and more importantly to the guests.”
Hotel Manager, Mr. Joshua Torai, said in part: “First of all, I would like to thank you for your excellent service. The awards are meant for individuals who go the extra mile, who are special and stand out in the crowd. It is a great honour and something that you should cherish and talk about to your families and everyone else. Definitely, I am very proud of all of you. Now that we have recognised you, I want you to take this as an opportunity to begin spreading who you are. We have already seen that you are special individuals and that you have, and represent, what we stand for here. Thank you for embodying our spirit, our culture, mannerisms, attitudes and work ethic. ”
Mr. Torai added: “I want 17 nominees a month. That would show that we are progressing together as a family and we are now on the road to that.”
Mr. Paulo Paias, the newly-appointed General Manager, saw the awardees and nominees as ambassadors of Zemi Beach. “I am very proud to be part of this work team which we regard as a family,” he stated. “This business is all about ladies and gentlemen working for ladies and gentlemen and our guests.”
Mr. Paias, who also spoke about the positive comments of guests, added: “Our level of quality depends on you because it is you who interact with our guests and do the deliverables to them. It is not us. We can orientate, guide and correct you, but it is you who make the difference. You are doing a good job. Congratulations!”
The hotel was developed by the Goldstein family of New York. One of the reviews of the property states as follows: “Tucked on six acres adjacent to Anguilla’s Fountain Cavern National Park, Zemi Beach House, Resort & Spa, redefines luxury-island living for a new generation. Blending contemporary residential luxury style with unique experiences that reflect the island’s rich history and the traditions of its people, this elegant newcomer on the shores of Shoal Bay East, welcomes all who share in pursuit of life well lived.”
