The historic Boys’ School building in The Valley, Anguilla, owned by St. Mary’s Anglican Church, is now being completed for use as a place for various community activities.
The finishing work, including the provision of interior facilities, and tiling of the floor, is being carried out by Mr. Emerson Reid. He has been commended for his service by Bishop Errol Brooks who, along with the Vestry, have responsibility for the church’s property.
The old school building was substantially repaired by a visiting religious group from the United States. Its members not only did the repair work, but used their own funds to purchase and ship to Anguilla the necessary materials for the building.
Today, the overall refurbished old Boys’ School is a picture of excellence and after Mr. Reid’s finishing work, the building is expected to be a popular choice for various community events.
Bishop Brooks is encouraging tradesmen in his parish to seek opportunities to undertake similar voluntary work in Anguilla, or outside the island, as the visiting group in the United States does every three years or thereabout. He highly commended the religious group for a job well done.
