NCBA Chairman, Mr Colville Petty and Mr Michael Bird

On Monday, September 5th, the Board, management and staff of the National Commercial Bank of Anguilla Ltd (NCBA) welcomed Mr. Michael Bird, a Fellow of the Institute of Canadian Bankers, as Chief Executive Officer.
Mr. Bird brings 40 years of extensive banking experience to NCBA. He most recently served as Managing Director of the National Bank of Dominica. Earlier posts involved high levels of responsibility at CIBC both in Canada and in the Caribbean where he worked in key positions that prepared him for this vital NCBA post. Mr. Bird has focused primarily on operations, sales and risk management and has made significant contributions at every step of his career.
He expressed his excitement about the future of NCBA by saying: “I am very grateful and honored for this unique opportunity to lead this exceptional organization – to bring the two legacy institutions into one strong and customer-focused bank. I look forward, over the coming weeks, to meeting the many customers who continue to support our bank since its inception.”
In welcoming Mr. Bird to the bank, Mr. Colville Petty, Chairman of the Board of Directors of NCBA, said: “Michael Bird brings with him a wealth of regional and international banking experience which should serve us well. As a new bank, NCBA, with its numerous growing pains, needs some of the best banking talent that is available and, I think we are indeed fortunate to have got hold of him.”
Michael Bird has been residing in Vancouver, Canada, and is now looking forward, along with his wife, to being a part of the Anguillian community.
