The UWI Open Campus has launched the new academic year with a number of online and on site orientation and registration activities for new and returning students. The Anguilla Site has recorded an additional seventy (70) new applications for Semester One 2016/2017, as local interest in the University’s Certificate, Diploma, Associates, Bachelors, Masters and Doctoral Degree programmes continues to increase.
The new applications have been spread across a variety of programmes, including Tourism and Hospitality Management, Marketing, Entrepreneurship, Human Resources, Financial Management, Accounting, Social Work, Youth Development, Education, Early Childhood and Family Life, Criminology, Psychology, Sociology, Political Science and Paralegal Studies.
In addition to the University’s online orientation sessions, the UWI Open Campus Anguilla Staff and Members of the local chapter of the Student Guild have been conducting welcome and information sessions for the new students. Some thirty persons attended the Site Orientation Session last week and more are expected to participate in the Guild activities, including a Church Service at the Dominion Faith Centre on Sunday, 28th August, a “Meet and Greet” Session on 31st August and a “Oneness” networking evening with members of other local Student bodies on 10th September.
Manager for the UWI Open Campus British Overseas Territories Sites, Dr. Phyllis Fleming-Banks has congratulated and welcomed the new students to the UWI family. She also thanked them for choosing the UWI to continue their education. “The Open Campus brings the UWI to you and you can be assured that you will receive the accredited world class, regionally-based education that the UWI is known for,” said the UWI Official. Dr. Fleming-Banks also expressed her appreciation to the local Site Staff and the new Student Guild Executive, headed by Mr. Trevor Queeley for their hard work and contributions in ensuring that the new and returning students have a positive experience. “The University is pleased with the growth on Anguilla and we thank you,” she said.
The UWI Open Campus classes for the new and returning students officially begin on 5th September.
