The Anguilla Boat Racing Committee and two carnival troupes – the Island Revellers and the Majestic Gems – are commencing their participation in the Anguilla Summer Festival with some well-needed funds donated by the Anguilla Social Security Board.

The cheques were presented on Tuesday by Director of Social Security, Mr. Timothy Hodge, along with Ms. Rosana Brown, Public Relations Officer and Mr. Bren Romney, Director of Youth and Culture, whose department has been assisting with fund-raising efforts.

The recipient of a cheque, in the sum of EC $23,596.30 (US 8,077.76) was presented to Ms. Atreme Harrigan, Vice President of the Anguilla Boat Racing Committee, for the August Monday boat race; Ms Calniya Hughes of Island Revellers and Ms Sharice Richardson of Majestic Gems, EC$4,072.30 (US$1,500) each.

All recipients expressed thanks and appreciation for the monetary donations on behalf of their respective groups.
