There is still much bragging, backslapping, and high -5s in North Hill – the village which not only won most of the competed races during the Anguilla Summer Festival and August week of boat-racing, but holds the championship as well.

Parliamentary Secretary for Tourism, Sports and Culture, Mr. Cardigan Connor, commented on the performance of the North Hill boats. “I think the big story coming out of North Hill is that Satellite ended up being the Boat of the Year and also Champion of Champions. It won three races and Real Deal also won three races as well,” he said.

“The only two other winners in the whole season of boat-racing were the Sonic from South Hill and Light & Peace from West End. So you would find that the people in North Hill will definitely feel that they own the right to be called the Champion Village of Anguilla. The performance of those two boats has been consistently good throughout the year. They won six out of eight races.”

Mr. Connor added: “I see the challenges that a number of other boats will face by those two boats from North Hill – the Satellite and the Real Deal.”

It reality, however, it is purely friendly rivalry and cammaderie in the national sport of Anguilla.
