Saturday August 13, saw the Kool FM Children’s Day Committee celebrating its Ninth Annual Children’s Day at the grounds of Coronation Park in The Valley. A wide cross-section of children from the various villages on Anguilla were present and engaged in workshops and games. They were provided with snacks and presented with school supplies for the new school year.
The interactive workshops were conducted by Mr. Iain Bibby and Ms Jacintha Crawford who presented on ‘Bullying’, Ms Angele Richardson presented on ‘Nutrition’.

The purpose of the activity according to Mr. Timothy Hodge, representative of the Anguilla Social Security Board – a sponsor of the event – was “to bring children from around Anguilla together in a fun environment. The aim is to breakdown the polarization in terms of gang culture, and assist young people to see each other from the different villages as comrades, in a fun and loving manner.” He further stated, that as a society, we are to look out for the future of tomorrow. The children are the future, therefore the Social Security Board is once again happy to contribute to the event.

The hands-on partnership between Kool FM and Joseph Williams (one of the major international sponsors of the Children’s Day activity) is an example of friendship forged in childhood. Four years ago, Mr. Williams realized that Leroy ‘Bro Lee’ Richardson
(Committee President) and himself (friends from childhood) were doing the same thing, so they joined forces to make what they were already doing bigger and better. Mr. Williams works for Tropical Shipping in Miami and the company has been sponsoring
the activity on his behalf. Tropical Shipping, Miami has once again sponsored the entire shipping of the educational items from Miami to Anguilla and also contributed a tremendous amount of school supplies for the event.

On behalf of the Committee members we say a special thank you to all of our local businesses: Anguilla Social Security Board, Joseph Williams, Tropical Shipping Miami, Government of Anguilla, Zarna Customs Brokerage and Delivery, Delta Petroleum, Scott Hauser, 4 Cs & I Rentals, Flow, Sandy Island Enterprises, Government of Anguilla (Customs), Waste Tech, Sports Department, Education Department, Vanterpool Water Delivery Services, Blanchard’s Beach Shack, Halls Unique Bakery, Best Buy Supermarket, Safety Step, Uneek Supplies, C&N Jumbo Plaza, Committee Members, Hugo Rey, Dionne Finger Licking Foods, Artisan Restaurant, Ashley & Sons, Ruthy’s Yum Yum, D3 Enterprises, Benjamine Group of Companies, The Anguillian Newspaper, UpBeat Radio, Buddy Willa, Elridge Richardson, Bethany Gospel Hall, Unique Trading, Anonymous Sponsors, Suzie Lake, Anita Ruan, Facilitators, Helpers and Parents.
