The Outreach Preschool, and its twinned Playschool, held a joint graduation ceremony on Friday, June 24, at the Orealia Kelly Primary School Auditorium.
The Preschool graduating class comprised a total of 21 students (10 girls and 11 boys) who will now be entering several of the primary schools in September coming. The graduates, or crossovers, from the Outreach Playschool to its Preschool totalled 28 (18 boys and 10 girls). A Day Care Centre, which is also attached to the Preschool and the Playschool, currently accommodates 12 youngsters. There has been a combined total of 84 students on the school’s register.
With the change in student numbers, there will be spaces available for new students in September, according to the Principal, Ms. Monicia Vanterpool.
Ms. Vanterpool said in her school report that the beginning of the outgoing school year was a time for building trust among the students apart from the teaching and learning process. “It was a time of building relationships and creating a team with one shared goal – providing your children with what they needed to develop and grow as pre-schoolers,” she told parents.
She continued: “We also moved through the year building a foundation that your children will bring with them to kindergarten…We thank you for sharing your children with us. We can’t tell you how much we appreciate this. It is now the end of the school year and it is time for your children to move on. I also want to thank our teachers for their dedication to the children and their families. I wish to say to the children: Take on the challenges you are now facing. Be loving, love learning, and be part of the community.”
The graduation programme was ably chaired by Ms. Farrah Banks, Director of the Department of Information and Broadcasting and a parent of one of the children in the Outreach School Day Care Centre.
