Students Recognized at ‘Art Egel Award Ceremony’

On Thursday 28th April, 2016 students and teachers of the Alwyn A. Richardson Primary School, West End, were joined by parents and other invited guests at the Art Egel Awards Ceremony themed “Never Give Up”.
The Awards ceremony is named after past Principal –Mr. Arthur (Art) Egel. Patricia Brooks (Tr. Pat) described him as a kind and loving teacher who has left many treasured memories with students and teachers.
The annual Ceremony is held to celebrate and recognize students’ achievements in academics, behaviour and participation in sports.
An estimated 53 students received academic and behavioural awards, 11 students made the Deputy Principal’s list and 14 the Principal’s list. In sports, some 66 students received awards with the top athletes being Paris Leveret and Jemar Willock. Zion Adams and Arijah Harrigan from the D.O.V.E Centre also received certificates.
Mrs. Marian Egel presented the 2016 ‘Art Egel Award’ to Grade 6 student, Axel Maldonado. The award is presented to a student who showcases a positive attitude and good behaviour. In his vote of thanks Axel encouraged the other students to strive for excellence and to “Never Give Up”.
