To the Editor. I do not share your point of view. This political party, knew full well that they were not going to be able to repeal the Stabilization Levy, but they continued to make it a big part of their Manifesto. They also talked about saving the indigenous banks, which in a sense they did. Our problem, being kept out of the loop, was not asking the pertinent questions, as to how they would go about doing this. Exactly, what was wrong with the banks and what would be needed to make them whole again. We as a people couldn't very well ask the pertinent questions if we hadn't been properly educated about the situation and given options for going forward. I'm really surprised at this editorial in that it does not mention the fact that this government was given several options to rescue the banks, with each option coming with its pluses and minuses, and that they chose to take the route that they did basically tells us that they weren't listening to anyone who knew what they were talking about. What's also missing from this editorial is the fact that when this government was sworn in, they talked about a kinder gentler administration, that they would engage the people. Can this editorial say with any certainty that any of these promises were kept? It is the duty of the press, free as it is, to keep this government honest. Give them kudos when they deserve them and hit them hard when its deserved. If that rule is not going to be adhered to, then it's better to say nothing. Just let the place run aground.
