Come next Sunday, April 10, St. Augustine’s Chorale will present a repeat performance of the musical treat entitled: “The Day He Bore My Crown” – first presented last Sunday evening, April 3, to a considerably large, and highly appreciative, audience.
The combination of “The Resurrection Story in Songs” was created and arranged by David T. Clydesdale, a Grammy Award and Dove Award-winning composer, arranger, orchestrator and producer. The first presentation by the St. Augustine’s Chorale attracted much applause and the same response is expected for the second on April 10.
The featured Easter season songs are Cornerstone; The Day He Bore My Crown (Interlude); Hosanna!; All Glory, Laud and Honour; There’s Something That’s Different About Him; Do You Believe in Me?; See Him There; Midnight in the Middle of the Day? Calvary; Behold the Lamb; The Day He Wore My Crown (in full); He Is Risen (Mary’s Story); and Resurrection Song. The Chorale was directed by Mr. Lennox Vanterpool, accompanied by other musicians.
The programme commenced with two selections by the St. Augustine’s Youth Chorale: Lead Me To Calvary and Live, Live, Live and a Chorale Reading. The young people were directed by Mrs. Amelia Vanterpool-Kubisch and Mrs. Althea Hodge, two members of the St. Augustine’s [Senior] Chorale in the absence of Mrs. Margaret Augustus.
Mr. Vanterpool spoke to The Anguillian as follows:
“In the musical THE DAY HE WORE MY CROWN the Chorale has sought to reenact, through several poignant songs, what it was for Jesus, Peter, Mary and the ordinary people of the day to experience a time complete with eternal consequences. In its ministry, the Chorale is striving to bring contemporary meaning to the age-old story of Easter, and for the believer it is everything to hope for – The resurrected Christ.
“We are humbled to be messengers of this glorious gospel and, as we ourselves are being transformed into a closer likeness of His, we pray that through our music the lives of our hearers are also transformed and that we will all come into a personal and intimate relationship with the Risen Christ.
“Owing to the fact that we had a very short time to prepare this work for the Chorale and orchestra, we opted to push the performances back one week, hence the dates April 3rd and 10th. We do not, however, intend this to be the norm and we will endeavor to return to our Easter Day performances in 2017 and beyond.
“The St. Augustine’s Chorale is looking forward to welcoming everyone to its repeat performance of this riveting musical on Sunday April 10th, St. Augustine’s Church at 5:00 pm.”
