After a most competitive series of sporting activities, in the run-up to Sports Day 2016, the Valley Primary School maintained its supremacy on Wednesday, March 23, by grabbing, for the 6th consecutive year, the first place championship. The school won to the deafening shouts of its cheerleaders and other enthusiastic supporters.
The Ronald Webster Park was a riot of colour as the various teams and cheer leaders paraded there for the grand finale. All six Government-owned Primary Schools, the privately-run Central Christian School and the Omolulu International School, competed in the huge sports meet.
The final points were as follows:
Valley Primary School: 595
Adrian T. Hazell Primary School: 571
Orealia Kelly Primary School: 448
Morris Vanterpool Primary School: 360
Vivien Vanterpool Primary School: 273
Central Christian School: 263
Alwyn Allison Richardson Primary School: 262
Omolulu International School: 78
The 23rd Annual Primary Schools Sports Day activities were declared open by Minister of Education responsible for Sports and Youth Affairs, Mr. Evans McNiel Rogers. He urged the various teams to follow in the footsteps of a number of other Anguillians – like Shara Proctor and Zharnel Hughes – who have excelled in the regional and international sports arenas, thereby establishing a name for themselves. He was grateful to Tropical Shipping for continuing its annual sponsorship of the Primary Schools Sports Day activities.
