The Valley, Anguilla – The Department of Disaster Management wishes to inform the public that the annual CaribeWave regional tsunami exercise will occur on Thursday March 17th 2016.
The scenario for this year’s exercise is a Magnitude 8.4 earthquake off the coast of Venezuela generating a Tsunami at approximately 10 am Thursday morning. The simulated tsunami will take approximately two (2) hours to impact Anguilla. The exercise therefore is designed to test Tsunami evacuation plans in order to ascertain if they are sufficient to address this type of scenario and promote awareness for tsunami response activities.

Any agency or individual wishing to participate in the exercise, to test their tsunami evacuation plans for home or business, should contact the Department of Disaster Management at 497-2926 as soon as possible. The Department will gladly assist with providing information on the exercise, tsunami education in general as well as assist you in the development of tsunami evacuation plans if necessary.
The Department wishes to express sincere thanks and appreciation for your cooperation in this matter as we strive to make Anguilla a safer place and to promote disaster preparedness through Tsunami education.
