The Valley, Anguilla – Wednesday March 2, 2016: From 5th March to 12th March 2016 the sun will cause some interference to the satellite signals used to deliver Digital TV to our Digicel Play customers. As a result customers will experience some interference to certain channels for a period of 3 to 4 consecutive days with each period of interference lasting approximately 5 to 10 minutes.
During the outage period for a channel, customers will see a channel pixilating, followed by complete loss of signal followed by recovery of signal and normalization of the channel, all within a 10 minute window.
The satellites we initially receive TV signals from will experience this interference at predictable times twice a year when the sun, the transmitting satellite and the receiving satellite are all aligned. The best advice we can offer when experiencing this phenomenon is for customers to wait the 10 minute duration while the sun outage passes naturally.
Key Points to Note
• Expected outage times are short and predominantly occur in advance of peak viewing times.
• Digicel Play will not dispatch technician for service calls specifically related to and during these outages.
• Any channel pixilation beyond 15 minutes should be reported to Digicel Play customer service department.
• Any pixilation issues outside the daylight hours should be reported to Digicel Play customer service.
• Digicel Play will not provide reinstatement to customer’s account due to Cable TV interruptions in direct relation to this natural phenomenon.
