Synergy Consulting
Jerome Richardson and Mark Jno Baptiste are the brains and talent behind Synergy Consulting, a local engineering consulting firm located in the Grace Complex. Synergy offers a full package of engineering services, that is, structural, mechanical, electrical and plumbing engineering designs, estimates and project management services, for the construction sector. Consulting with Synergy is a great way to ensure that your project in Anguilla will be built to international code and energy code standards.
Jerome and Mark always had aspirations of owning businesses. The opening of Synergy brought together the work experiences that both men have garnered over the last fifteen plus years.
Jerome has a degree in Electrical Engineering. He was employed with an M.E.P (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) engineering consulting firm in Manhattan for several years and designed building systems for commercial buildings in the United States. Some notable projects he worked on include the World Trade Center, Bank of America and JP Morgan Chase.
Mark studied Civil Engineering. He worked for an engineering consultancy for five years in England before starting his own company called Design Solutions Services Limited. Mark also worked for a world renowned engineering firm ARUP, where he excelled as a Project Engineer. Throughout his professional career Mark worked on engineering projects in the United Kingdom, Europe, Australia and Canada. In 2010 he moved from the UK to Antigua and took up a role as Head of Engineering and Construction at the Antigua State College. In 2013 Mark returned to Anguilla to work with Morlens Architecture Services where he focused on engineering design and project management.
When asked about the best advice they ever received they said, “Making a better future starts today. This statement is tied to the core of what we believe and do. The way in which things are done today directly impacts the future that our children and grandchildren are going to have.”
They acknowledged that it is relatively easy to set up a business in Anguilla but cautioned that there are always restraints in terms of the markets ability to absorb the services offered. They expressed concern that the lack of solid frameworks on which the country operates remains a major problem for many businesses on the island.
Jerome and Mark elaborated passionately about what makes Synergy Consulting different from other firms. They explained “Synergy Consultancy is the only business on Anguilla that offers all of your engineering services under one roof. We have experience working in both Europe and the United States. We are both engineers with a focus on offering a very high level of construction documents which will aid contractors and owners. “
They continued “our designs are geared toward making the best use of our finite resources such as water and electricity. What we do during our design process for plumbing for example is that we calculate the daily consumption of water, pressure needed to supply every fixture and the size pump, heater, pipes and vents that will be required for such an application.
For electrical, we size all your electrical wires, breakers and calculate your load contributions to the grid. For mechanical or air condition, we use industry level tools that allow us to track the sun every day of the year and determine which day of which month your building will receive maximum heat exposure.
For structural Engineering we calculate all the loads which your building will be subjected to during its design life and design the size, type and specification of the structural elements to withstand those forces.
We also create a model of your building which is loaded with actual heat contributing elements. We also ensure that healthy air quality is maintained in the building. This approach to design protects not only the owner, but also the countries resources. It ensures that when you purchase an air condition unit or a pump or electrical wiring, panels and structural element that they are not over or under sized both of which result in wasted resources or worst.”
In ten years, these talented men see themselves continuing to push the boundaries of engineering. They intend to stay abreast with the new technologies and developments in the sector and continue to offer innovative solutions to this country and potentially the region.
To the General Public they said:
“Synergy Consulting is here to serve you. We care about protecting your investment by ensuring that your building will stand the test of time through sound engineering and design. We care about protecting your health and safety.”
