RAPF REPORTS: Three on Remand for Possession of Cocaine

The Royal Anguilla Police Force has arrested and charged three men ages 27 – 32 yrs. for possessions of a control drug to-wit cocaine.

The three men two from the Dominican Republic and the other from Columbia were arrested in the early morning hours of Thursday 4th February, 2016 as part of a joint operation between the US Coast Guard and the Marine Unit of the RAPF. The three who were on board a Motor Vessel in Anguillian water at the time, 10 miles North West of Sombero Island were brought to Anguilla along with the boat and 1 kilo or 2.34 lbs. of cocaine with a street value of US $17,000.00.

The defendants who were in police custody initially for Immigration Purposes were charged on Friday 19th February, 2016 by the RAPF with possession of cocaine and were taken before the court on Monday 22nd February, 2016.

All three defendants pled guilty to the charge and were fined EC $50,000.00 each. They were remanded to Her Majesty’s Prison and are due back in court on Thursday 25th February, 2016 for finalization of sentencing.
