The Anguilla United Front Government, in an effort to boost its public relations, has embarked on a Radio Anguilla programme entitled: “Upfront: Conversations with the Nation”.
The first edition was produced on Tuesday, February 16, from 8.00 pm to 10.00 pm and will continue thereafter every Tuesday night. It was originally announced that the programme would be hosted by Mr. Evan McNiel Rogers, Minister of Social Development. The host for the introductory edition, however, was Mr. Mark Romney, a former Country Manager of LIME Anguilla. He is also known as an emerging radio personality.
Chief Minister, Mr. Victor Banks, spoke about the nature of the programme. “We look forward to using this as an opportunity, from time to time, for members of the Government to come in and have some discussions on issues of importance to this country,” he explained. “We will be involving persons from all aspects of Government, Boards, Statutory Bodies, and the private sector as the issues become important.’’
Mr. Banks added: “This evening we have the entire Cabinet. Beginning with the Minister of Social Development, they are: Evan McNiel Rogers; Mrs. Cora Richardson-Hodge, Minister of Home Affairs; Mr. Curtis Richardson, Minister of Infrastructure, Communications – including Agriculture, Fishing and Housing; Mr. Cardigan Connor, Parliamentary Secretary with responsibility for Tourism and Sports, among other things; and Mrs. Evalie Arlene Bradley, Ministerial Assistant in the Ministry of Home Affairs – and fresh back from the Public Accounts Conference in the United Kingdom.”
