DIGICEL ANGUILLA GIVES KEACY CARTY AN ANGUILLIAN HERO’S WELCOME!

February 22nd 2016, The Valley Anguilla –Digicel is the main sponsor for the under 19 West Indies Cricket team who recently won the youth world cup in Bangladesh. As a part of Digicel’s commitment to youth development in the region, Digicel Anguilla hosted a small ceremony to welcome Mr. Keacy Carty who is the young man which steered the West Indies team to accomplish the victory for the win in the youth world cup.
The 18-year-old, whose unbeaten half century in the final of the ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup final against India, sealed a historic five-wicket win for the West Indies team.
On his arrival, he was greeted by a group of persons which included members of his family, Digicel representatives, ALHCS Choir & Orchestra, Mr Dumpa Martin, Mr. Perry Hughes, Mr. Rollins Richardson, and of the Anguilla cricket association, Mr. Cardigan Connor, as well as members of the Anguilla Air & Sea port authority and Anguillian spectators.
Upon Carty’s entry, he was greeted by Digicel’s Head of Commercial, Ms. Kerchelle Jn Charles and Marketing Executive Ms. Roxanne Webster. They immediately surprised him with a personalized gift basket and a legendary West Indies cricket bat signed by all members of the West Indies team which was led by Mr. Shivnarine Chanderpaul .
Thereafter, the ALHCS Choir and orchestra lead by Mrs. Daphne Jacobs performed an Anguillian medley with songs like “This land is my land”, “ I say A” and “ This is Anguilla”.
Mr. Dumpa Martin and Mr. Perry Hughes then took over and played some popular cricket soca hits on the steel pan which captured the ears and eyes of other welcoming guest arriving through the port as well.
The entire group joined for photos, hugs, and thank you’s from Mr. Keacy Carty and his father Mr. Keith Carty better known as ‘King Repeater’.
