Robin South Professional Counseling Services opened in September, 2015. This full service counseling business provides counseling, life coaching, hypnotherapy and timeline therapy. Robin South is Board certified in each area. Robin South Professional Counseling Services is located in Atlantic Star Medical Centre and is open during their business hours. Robin is also available after business hours and on Saturdays by appointment.
When Robin moved back to Anguilla with her husband she knew she wanted to start a business. Although she had not run a business on her own previously she was motivated to share what she knew with others and help others using her knowledge and skills.
Robin South Professional Counseling Services offers a range of services to customers. She describes them below.

Certified Neuro linguistic programming Practitioner (NLP) and NLP Coach – Traditional therapy sees client as broken and need to be fixed. I focus on actions, outcomes and processes – remembering that a person is perfectly capable of best performance and only has to get in touch with their capabilities.

Robin expounded ‘I don’t see clients as sick or ill or broken. Everyone has the capabilities of change within. I see everyone as magnificent. My job is to uncover it.’

Timeline Therapy Practitioner – Everyone has and uses language related to time and it affects how we relate to the world. Everyone stores their experiences in a similar manner on a timeline. I utilize their timeline to promote change in a person.
She explained ‘For example if you have a goal we put that goal in that timeline. If you put it in your timeline it has to happen or some form of it. Say you are asking for a Black Mercedes-Benz S-Class. You have the means and a job so you put it in your timeline. You may not get an S-Class Mercedes but you may get an Audi 500 which is better than the Volvo you are driving today. Timeline therapy helps you to realize your potential.
Timeline therapy also works on limiting beliefs. Everyone has them. For e.g. ‘I can’t make any more money,’ I can’t lose weight’ or ‘I can’t find a new job.’ Through timeline therapy a person can get rid of the negative belief and replace it with a more positive belief and actualize their goal.’

Hypnotherapy – This confirms the work we have done. For example, if someone doubts that they can change something in their life. I work with a pendulum and you talk with your unconscious mind to clarify that this change work can happen and you want it at the unconscious level.
Robin shared ‘Smoking is an example. If you say you want to quit smoking and through hypnotherapy you say you will not quit. We then have to work on the root causes.’

The biggest challenge Robin has faced so far is the negative association and stigma persons attach to counseling and mental health care. Robin discourages the use of the words ‘crazy’ or ‘broken’ or ‘not right’ that are often used to describe persons with mental health issues.
The biggest reward for Robin is seeing clients changed and when they also see that they have changed. She smiled and said ‘and I love the hugs too.’
The best advice Robin has received and which guides her business daily is ‘do what you love and love what you do.’ She shared passionately ‘we spend at least 40 hours a week on the job so you better love it or you will end up hating it and dragging yourself down. I went into counseling because I absolutely think it is my calling. I would do it for free if I could.’
When asked how she distinguishes herself from competitors she said ‘I don’t look at my clients as broken so I provide a different perspective.’
The response from the public has been very positive. She said ‘I was the little acorn and now I have the little sprout.’

She shared ‘In ten years I plan to be a Master’s Trainer for NLP which will enable me to train other persons on how to use these techniques. I am also currently working on a children’s book and I plan to be a bestselling author.’

If you or anyone you know can benefit from counseling do contact Robin South Professional Counseling Services.
