The Valley, Anguilla, February 23rd, 2016 — Anguilla was very well represented at the Boston Globe Travel Show this past weekend, February 19th – 21st, with new branding on full display in the lively Caribbean section, and much to the delight of the hundreds of travel-hungry tourists and travel agents who attended the show.
Boston is an important market for Anguilla, and travelers from Boston and elsewhere in the Northeast seeking warm island escapes were interested to learn about all this special destination has to offer. Some were familiar with Anguilla because they had vacationed in Anguilla years ago and still choose to return year after year; others had taken a cruise to St. Maarten and made a day trip to the island. Many others who were not familiar with Anguilla were excited to learn about how easy it is to get to Anguilla. Direct flights operate from Boston to Puerto Rico, with convenient onward connections to the Clayton J Lloyd International Airport via Seaborne and Tradewinds. Alternatively, visitors can fly into St. Maarten and transfer to Anguilla via a seven-minute flight or 25-minute ferry ride. Visitors to the Anguilla booth marveled at the beautiful beaches and laid back elegance of the destination – quite a pleasant diversion from other, more bustling islands.
The show exhibit booth featured all new backdrops, signage and brochures. Participating alongside the Anguilla Tourist Board team were representatives from Zemi Beach House Resort & Spa, Frangipani Beach Resort, and Carimar Beach Club who provided another dimension of information about the destination. Consumers wanted to know where they could stay and the range of both luxury and affordable options. They were able to get a thorough overview of the island and then learn about specific accommodations to paint a full picture of Anguilla.
“It is so important that Anguilla is represented at events like the Boston Globe Travel Show,” says Donna Banks, Chairperson for the Anguilla Tourist Board. “It’s an opportunity to elevate awareness about the island and have one-on-one conversations with travelers and the trade, providing information that they couldn’t easily get elsewhere.”
