Anguilla, BWI, January 5, 2016 – On Saturday, December 19, 2015, Anguilla Watersports held a Festive Fundraiser at Rendezvous Bay to benefit the AXA Cares Food Bank. After being alerted to a shortage of toys for over 130 Anguillian children this Christmas just three days earlier, the company was able to mobilize the business community and hold an event that raised a total of $1000 and countless toys for children in need.
Company president, Judson Burdon, explained the motive behind the last-minute fundraiser, namely to raise awareness about the importance of giving back to the community. “It’s important for the Anguillian community to know that we support them and we want the best for them, especially over the Holidays. If we know there are people in need, we will do all we can to fill this need. This is just one of many more fundraising events to come,” Mr. Burdon explained.
“Community involvement is something we highly promote”, he continued, “and we look forward to bigger and bigger turnouts. Everything we used here today was donated, from the tent and DJ right down to the raffle tickets. We owe much of our success to our event sponsors, who heeded the call and were incredibly generous. This has been a super fun event and a tremendous success, and we have our team, our volunteers, and our sponsors to thank for this.”
The event’s sponsors included Arawak Beach Inn, Anguilla Tennis Academy, Anguilla Watersports, Ocean Echo Restaurant, Cha-Cha San restaurant, Dolphin Discovery, Essentials Stationery Store, Funtime Charters, Malliouhana Hotel and Spa, Roy’s Bayside Grill, Merchant Market, Picante’s Restaurant, Brothers Grimm DJ, Magic Sudz Car Wash, and C&N Jumbo Plaza.
